Temperance Mark Lodge Installation 2023

It was a pleasant spring evening at Woolton Golf Club on 21st February for the Installation meeting of Temperance Mark Lodge No 774.  The 2022 Installation meeting had to be cancelled due to illness and moved to the April meeting.  This year it was back to the traditional February meeting.

WBro Doug Lace had been elected to remain in office for a further and so it would only be a Proclamation Ceremony. VWBro Derek Horrocks attended the meeting representing the RW Provincial Grand Master, he was accompanied by WBro Steve Walls the PGM’s Special Rep for the Liverpool Mark Lodges.
The Lodge was opened on time by WBro Lace.  With the Lodge open the members and visitors welcomed WBro Doug Lace back after a long period of illness which meant that Doug had missed the Lodge’s centenary meeting in December 2022.  With the salutations complete, the Lodge DC, WBro Derek Gaskell proclaimed WBro Lace, Master of Temperance Mark Lodge.

With the officers appointed and invested, WBro Gaskell, gave the addresses to the Wardens and then the Overseers. VWBro Derek Horrocks then gave a rousing address to the Brethren. With the ceremony complete, VWBro Horrocks brought the congratulations of the PGM to WBro Doug Lace and hoped that Doug had better year health wise.

WBro Doug Lace then presented a Charity cheque to VWBro Derek, who thanked the brethren for their generosity, considering the large donation that the Lodge had made at the Centenary meeting in December.  VWBro Derek Horrocks work was not yet complete. He had the pleasure of presenting the amended Centenary Certificate, to the Worshipful Master. (There had been a slight discrepancy on the original which had been presented at the December meeting.)

During the first rising WBro Steve Walls presented a Grand Lodge Certificate to Bro Keith Lindsey.   With the lodge closed it was time for dinner.  Replying to the toast to Grand Offices, VWBro Derek Horrocks gave his own congratulations to Master and invited him to Provincial Grand Lodge at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool on 27th April.

This year will be extra special because there will be three investitures.  One will be for the Deputy Provincial Grand Master and two for Assistant Provincial Grand Master. This is on top of the appointments and promotions. All members of the Mark degree are welcome to attend.  We wish WBro Doug Lace and the members of Temperance Mark Lodge No 774 a happy and successful year.

A sad loss for Temperance Mark Lodge with the announcement that stalwart member, WBro Fred Hulse, P.Pr.G.Swd.B; passed to The Grand Lodge above on the afternoon of 22nd February.

Our thoughts are with Fred’s family.
